Please Welcome Hadley Louise Mayes

Our little baby girl has arrived! We are so excited to finally have a lil girl join out family. After weeks of hoping that my braxton hicks contractions would progress to the real thing we ended up having a scheduled induction on May 13th. I was so full of anxiety the night before and wasn't sure if I would be able to get any sleep but believe it or not I actually did get some sleep. I woke up at 6AM to call the Birth Center to see if they had beds available and they did so we then made our journey to the hospital around 7:15 to be there by 7:30. After getting all the paperwork filled out and getting checked in they assigned us our room and we were in the same suite I had been in with the boys. It just must be "our" room for having our children! Once they got me all all hooked up to everything they started my pitocin around 8:30AM and my contractions started kicking in right away so they didn't have to up my dosage for almost 2 hours which was so nice. At around 11:00 or so my doctor came in and broke my water and boy oh boy did my contractions get more intense after that! About an hour later I asked for the epidural and this go around was a lot more painful than it was with my boys and it was probably because of the way I was sitting in the bed and my back wasn't totally straight. The anesthesiologist (sp) had to try quite a few times to get it right and Matthew got really queasy and had to sit down. He never had to before but I think he was starting to worry about me with how many times it was taking the doctor to get everything right. So after everything was right I was able to sleep from about 12:30PM until 2:15 or so and my mom thought it was so funny I was sleeping through my contractions! My doc came in around 2:15 and checked me and I was ready to start pushing. She had me give me 1 push and then mad eme stop til the nurses had everything else ready because with the 1 push the baby was already crowned pretty good. A couple pushes later we welcomes miss Hadley into the world at 2:31PM on May 13th. What a great Mother's Day gift she was and it was all I could ask for, I didn't need anything else. My recovery this time around has been so quick. Matthew was supposed to leave on the 15th to go back to work but his boss let him stay until the 18th. Hadley has been such a great baby and her brothers absolutely adore her! It's so fun to playing with pink and pastels and dresses and bows. She is already a daddy's girl and has her daddy wrapped around her little finger. She is such a princess. Welcome to the family Hadley we are so happy you are finally here!
