He's Here!!

Please Welcome Aaydan Michael Mayes weighing in at 6lbs 8oz and 19in

Aaydan finally joined our family on Sunday September 13th at 3:57pm. For those of you that like the stories here is ours: Since I had gestational diabetes and at the last ultrasound Aaydan was measuring big and my doctor was getting concerned with me having all these intense braxton hicks contraction and not progressing so at my last appointment she gave me the option of being induced and since I really didn't want to have a big baby we decided for my safety and the safety of the baby that we would go through with the induction. On Sunday morning we arrived at the hospital at 7:30 and was admitted. Since my doctor was in on another delivery I had to wait until 9:30 to start the patocin. I had not changed my dialation from my last appointment so that was pretty upsetting since I had severe braxton hicks the night before! Anyways, the contractions weren't that bad until they upped my patocin for the 3rd time and then I really started feeling them. I got retinol which made me relax for about an hour or so and when it wore it off I could really feel the contractions and wanted an epidural badly. So they checked me at around 2pm and with the retinol I had finally dialted to a good 4cm and I was able to get the epidural. I got the epidural at around 3pm and had a few contractions while they were monitoring to make sure it was working correctly and when they checked me afterwards I was at 6cm and 90%, 3 good contractions later I was calling the nurses back in and I was ready to push! My doctor checked me real quick and sure enough in that short amount of time I was ready to go. I started pushing at 3:30 and had Aaydan at 3:57! I am glad I didn't feel the contractions but boy o boy did I feel EVERYTHING with the delivery! He was obviously much smaller than what we expected but are so happy with our decision to be induced. I feel so much better this time around and am so happy since I have a 2 1/2 year old to take care of too! We are so happy to finally have little Aaydan here and Tristan couldn't be a prouder big brother. He has already been such a big help by bringing me the car seat and helping with changing the diapers.
