My Husband

I saw this on my friend Jackie's blog and thought it was really cute, so I decided to post one as well. This picture is of Matthew and I in Zion's Nat'l Park on our move down to Arizona. What a beautiful park this is! 1. What is his name? Matthew Joseph Mayes 2. Who eats more? he does by far! 3. Who said "I love you" first? He did. We were camping out at the tongue with his sister and her husband and while we were laying there he asked me if it was ok if he told me that he loved me and I said sure but that I wasn't sure I could say the same right then and he said "that's ok, I just want you to know how I feel." Well the next week he was really working his charm and I fell in love with him and dropped the ball on him by telling him the same 4. Who is taller? Matthew, he is 5'11" and I am 5'! 5. Who is smarter? We both have our smarts in different areas 6. Who is more sensitive? me by far! But I love it when a man cries! His emotions were definitely running when Tristan was born! 7. Who does the laundry? We both do, but mostly I do since I stay at home. If he needs his work clothes done and I haven't gotten to it yet he will put them in. He like to help me out when he wants to 8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you are looking at the bed I do 9.Who pays the bills? I do 10. Who cooks more? I do the cooking, I love to cook 11. Who is more stubborn? I would say that he is, but I know I have my times as well but he is more stubborn than I am 12. Who is the first to admit they are wrong? I guess it just depends on the situation. 13. Who has more siblings? He does, I have 2 and he has 3 14. Who wears the pants in the family? As the saying goes...we both have a leg in. 15. What do you like to do together? We like to go bowling, camping, 4-wheeling, hiking, swimming, scenic drives (when our budget can take it) 16. Who eats more sweets? I think we may eat about the same, my sweet tooth is for ice cream though 17. How did you meet? Our families have been friends since before both of us were born, and then we went to church together, his sister Chandra used to baby sit me. We went to high school together, but didn't really care for each other at the time, and then 2 years after high school we started hang out more because I was hanging out with his cousin so he started to hang around us more and it just goes on from there! 18. First kiss? It was in his parents garage. I was leaving his house because his brother just got back from his mission and I wanted them to have family time. As I was almost out of the garage he comes running out and says "wait!" And then he just grabs me and kisses me. At first I was so stunned, it wasn't really the best first kiss but we have many great kisses since! 19. Who proposed? He did. We had been talking about getting married for a while but he never officially asked me, and I didn't think he was ever going to! We were up at our friends parents ranch in Musselshell and it was a beautiful Winter evening, New Years evening to be exact. We had been 4 wheeling all day and I was getting really cold and so we went back to the house to get warmed up. Matthew had mentioned to me that he would really like to go back out on the 4 wheelers before dark and I told him that was ok. So we decided to go about an hour to half hour before sun down and Matthew was getting all worried and driving really fast through trees and I was getting snow dumped on my head ( it wasn't a very nice ride) and I was starting to get so cold. Well we got to the top a hill and I mentioned my feet were cold and he told me we should get off and walk around for a little bit to warm them up, plus the 4 wheeler needs to cool off, it was getting too hot. (little did I know much about 4 wheelers but they don't get too hot!) So we were walking towards a nearby cliff and it was a beautiful pink, purple and orange sunset, and cliff overlooked everything! I was beautiful with all the pines covered in snow and the sunset. I turned around to get hair out of my face and when I turned back around, Matthew was down on one knee with a ring! His words went something like, I know you have been waiting for this for a long time, how about we make it official, I love you. Not the most romantic thing but it brought me to tears and of course I said yes! 20. What is his best feature? His eyes, I can always tell what he feels or is thinking by looking at them 21. What is his greatest quality? He has a big heart. He is always there rain or shine for his friends and family and hates to let anyone down, even though they may do it to him every now and then.
